I was just thinking… When did being chubby become such a horrible thing?

I suppose maybe not even… 150 to 200 years ago, it was acceptable and even desired for a woman to be chubby, curvy, etc. A woman like this was someone the guys wanted. If you look at paintings from the Renaissance, the women were heavier and their figures were fuller. It was a sign of wealth, desire, nobility, and even power to put on a few pounds. Things, have of course, changed. Food isn’t as scarce as it was back in those times, and society changed. But, I see people getting picked on for being built heavier. Today, everyone wants to be skinny. You can’t even look at most celebrities without seeing one of their bones popping out under their skin.

So, when did being heavier become such a bad thing, and skinny become such a desirable thing? I understand that people want to be fit and in shape; however, being heavier or chubbier doesn’t mean you’re not healthy. I just don’t understand why people get mocked for not being skinny. It’s sick, rude, and it makes those who do mock them horrible people.
